Facebook New Messages. email ID's now available

Facebook's much awaited new messaging platform rolled out this morning to Indian users, mainly to those who requested it and on-invite basis. So basically it is a very simplistic conversation styled Text, Chat and Email platform all together. Seriously, very very simple. Something which one could easily like and get attracted to. Now it also stores full conversation history of your chat as well. With this, also available are Facebook email ID's for every user, which you need to activate when you get the New Messages running in your profile (pretty soon).
So lets go through what they brag as the New Social Inbox for users.

If you have requested for the New Messaging before, you will be greeted by a pop-up displaying 'Upgrade to the New Messages' feature.

After you click on 'See What's New', you'll be redirected to a page showing the new features.

Clicking on 'Upgrade Now' will start-up a wizard asking you to claim your 'Facebook Email' as well as activating 'Text Messaging' & 'Chat'.

After you click on 'Activate Email', you'll own a brand new email from Facebook ready to use, with all features like, Folders, Spam, Archives, etc. It also supports notification via text messages and 'Quick Reply' mode. The look and feel is very simplistic and makes u stay on the page for a longer time. Mark Zuckerberg had always said "It's not e-mail".

So, have you yet received that pop-up of change. I hope you are desperately waiting for it. Share with us your experiances. Report us if there is some bug.

DIASPORA* is here [ALPHA]

Diaspora (stylized as DIASPORA*) is considered to be an alternative to Facebook, is actually a free personal web server that supports social network services. The concept of DIASPORA* is pretty interesting, it is an open source social network and lets users to setup their own servers to host content. Soafer, one of the developer of Diaspora said,
"We don't need to hand our messages to a hub. What Facebook gives you as a user isn't all that hard to do. All the little games, the little walls, the little chat, aren't really rare things. The technology already exists."
The group has received the donation of more than $200,000 from Kickstarter. One of the contributors is Mark Zuckerberg who called this a "cool idea".
So, now when finally Diaspora* is going alpha, we have got a hands on it, for testing and also bringing it to all other viewers out there to get a feel of it.

The main page after you click on the invite you have received is pretty simple and sober. Stating the main key factors Diaspora is based upon on the left of the page.

After you sign up, you got to make your profile.

What you'll get with it is a Diaspora email id (i guess so)

And a pretty strange and unique thing is the gender field is actually a text field, (for the first time in any social networking site).

What makes Diaspora special is the thing called as Aspects, this is where customization comes in. You can create your on aspects viz, work, family or anything you like, you decide the rules for it. (mind you, it is still alpha).
Then comes the part of social connect, definitely it offers you to connect to Twitter as well as Facebook.

So after everything is done, this is what you get as your final profile

We have for you a preview of the Diaspora profile

So, the first open source social network which is considered to be most secure till date is out for people (at least for testers). Have a feel of it!
